Mechanical Engineering

We run the load studies, design the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and industrial utility systems, coordinate them with the other disciplines, and support commissioning until the installed system performs as calculated.

Overview

HVAC, plumbing, firefighting and industrial systems designed for the load they will actually carry.

Our mechanical practice covers HVAC, plumbing and drainage, firefighting and suppression, and industrial process and utility systems. Work begins with load modelling and ends with commissioning support, so the installed system behaves the way the calculation said it would.

Designs are produced to international codes and coordinated live against electrical, structural and architectural models, which removes the clashes that normally surface on site — when they are expensive.

Expertise

01

HVAC systems design

Load calculation, equipment selection, duct and pipe sizing, zoning and control philosophy.

02

Plumbing & drainage

Domestic water, hot water generation, foul and storm drainage, pumping and water-treatment interfaces.

03

Fire protection

Sprinkler, standpipe, gaseous and specialist suppression systems, with smoke management strategies.

04

Energy modelling

Whole-building simulation, life-cycle cost comparison and efficiency measures with quantified payback.

05

Industrial & process utilities

Compressed air, steam, chilled water, thermal plant and district cooling interfaces.

06

Commissioning support

Method statements, witness testing, performance verification and handover documentation.

Methodology

Methodology

  1. 01

    Define the load

Establish real operating profiles, occupancy and process demand before any equipment is selected.

  2. 02

    Model and compare

Test system options against energy, cost, space and maintainability rather than defaulting to convention.

  3. 03

    Coordinate and document

Produce coordinated drawings, schedules and specifications reviewed against every other discipline.

  4. 04

    Verify on site

Support installation, witness testing and commissioning until measured performance matches design intent.

Deliverables

  1. 01 Load calculations and system selection reports
  2. 02 Coordinated mechanical drawings and schematics
  3. 03 Equipment schedules and technical specifications
  4. 04 Energy models and life-cycle cost comparison
  5. 05 Tender documentation and bid evaluation support
  6. 06 Commissioning plans and as-built documentation
Benefits

What the client gains

Lower running cost

Right-sized plant and modelled control strategies cut energy consumption for the whole asset life.

Fewer site clashes

Live coordination against other disciplines removes the reworking that erodes programme and budget.

Code confidence

Documentation prepared for authority review, with the calculation trail behind every decision.

Operable systems

Control philosophies and O&M material written for the people who will actually run the plant.
