The engagement
01
The problem
The preferred corridor crossed several catchments with poor historical drainage records, and earlier alignment options carried significant earthworks cost.
02
Our approach
Geospatial terrain modelling delineated the catchments and produced a defensible hydrological baseline. Civil and GIS teams then tested alignment options against cut-and-fill balance, flood exposure and structure count together rather than sequentially.
03
The outcome
The adopted alignment reduced earthworks volume materially against the original option while lowering flood exposure at three crossings.
